A co-operative built on people, not profit
KISE SACCO brings the KISE community together to save regularly, borrow responsibly and build lasting financial security — owned and governed by the members it serves.
Rooted at KISE, growing with every member
KISE SACCO is headquartered at the Kenya Institute of Special Education in Kasarani, Nairobi — a community of educators, specialists and professionals dedicated to inclusion and service. The SACCO extends that same spirit of mutual support to money: members pool their savings, and those savings become affordable credit for fellow members.
Because the SACCO is owned by its members, surpluses are not paid to outside shareholders. They are returned to members as dividends on share capital and interest on deposits, or reinvested in better services — as decided by members at the Annual General Meeting.
Today, KISE SACCO combines that co-operative tradition with a modern, secure digital platform, so members can save, borrow and stay informed from wherever they are.
Mission, vision & values
Our mission
To mobilise members’ savings and provide affordable, accessible financial services that improve the economic wellbeing of every member.
Our vision
To be the trusted financial partner of the KISE community — secure, member-centred and forward-looking.
Our values
Integrity, transparency, equity, respect and empathy — in every decision, every transaction and every conversation.
Guided by the seven co-operative principles
Adopted by co-operatives worldwide through the International Co-operative Alliance, these principles shape how KISE SACCO is run.
Voluntary and open membership
Open to all who can use our services and accept the responsibilities of membership, without discrimination.
Democratic member control
Members set policy and elect leaders. Each member has one vote, regardless of how much they save.
Member economic participation
Members contribute capital fairly and share in the surplus in proportion to their participation.
Autonomy and independence
The SACCO is an autonomous, self-help organisation controlled by its members.
Education, training and information
We invest in financial education for members, leaders and staff.
Co-operation among co-operatives
We strengthen the movement by working with other co-operatives locally and nationally.
Concern for community
We work for the sustainable development of the communities our members belong to.
Accountable to members, always
Clear roles and independent oversight protect members’ money and keep decisions transparent.
General meeting
The supreme authority of the SACCO. Members approve the by-laws, elect leaders, receive audited accounts and decide on dividends.
Board of directors
Elected by members to set strategy and policy, approve budgets and oversee management on members’ behalf.
Supervisory oversight
Independent checks on the board and management, backed by internal audit, external auditors and a complete digital audit trail.
Co-operative societies in Kenya are registered under the Co-operative Societies Act (Cap. 490); deposit-taking SACCOs are additionally licensed by the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA).
